The classic 1997 PC version of Resident Evil is now available on GOG, with Resident Evil 2 and 3 set to follow soon

Although originally ported to PC in 1997, the original Resident Evil has been notably absent from modern PC storefronts like Steam. However, the 1997 PC port, distinct from the later remakes, is now available for purchase on GOG at £8.99 / $9.99.

GOG has also announced plans to bring the original PC versions of Resident Evil 2 and 3 to their store later this year. A bundle including all three games will be available for £20.99 / $24.99 upon release.

The GOG release of Resident Evil has been updated for full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11, featuring new rendering options and modern fixes such as improved cutscene timing and controller support for various models including Xbox and PlayStation controllers.

Resident Evil 2’s GOG port, slated for later this year, will include similar enhancements and unlockable modes like the 4th Survivor and Tofu from the start. Resident Evil 3’s eventual release on GOG will feature the Mercenaries mode.
