A PlayStation VR2 PC adapter has been spotted

Brad Lynch discovered a listing on the website of Korea’s National Radio Research Agency for a PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, submitted by Sony Interactive Entertainment Korea and dated towards the end of March. This suggests a potential imminent announcement for the device.

Earlier this year, Sony confirmed plans to develop PC support for its second-generation VR headset. A statement on the PlayStation Blog in February mentioned their testing of the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional PC games, expanding the range of gaming possibilities.

VR for PS5 launched in February 2023 with a price tag of $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99, but sales reportedly started slowly. Despite this, Hiroki Totoki expressed confidence that the PS VR2 could outperform its predecessor, which was released for PS4 in October 2016 and sold over five million units.

Eric Lempel, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, described VR as an important business for the company, yet acknowledged its potential has not been fully realized. In December, he told the Financial Times that VR remains a challenging category despite Sony’s reported successful sales. He also noted that expectations regarding VR’s impact on the gaming industry were higher than the current reality.
