Characters in Overwatch 2 will be available for free at launch, starting from Season 10

Heroes in Overwatch 2 will be accessible without charge upon release, commencing from Season 10.

On Tuesday, developers announced changes to Overwatch 2. Game director Aaron Keller shared the exciting news: players will no longer need to purchase the premium battle pass to unlock new characters or spend hours unlocking them through the free track of the battle pass. All heroes, including Venture and future ones, will be available for free from the game’s launch.

Additionally, Blizzard introduces a new way to unlock Mythic skins with the launch of the Mythic Shop in Season 10. Players will be able to work on Mythic hero skins, choosing how far to progress in each skin.

Starting from Season 10, players will also earn coins through the free and premium tracks of the battle pass, with the number of free coins per season increasing from 540 to 600.

Today, Blizzard also launched a new limited-time event called Plunderstorm, inspired by the battle royale genre in World of Warcraft.
