After prolonged efforts spanning over a decade to create a sequel to the original 2010 game, Alan Wake 2 was finally released in October of last year and received high praise from critics.
In addition to garnering numerous prestigious awards, Remedy announced on Friday that Alan Wake 2 has sold 1.3 million copies, making it the studio’s fastest-selling game to date.
“We are pleased with the sales start of Alan Wake 2,” commented Remedy’s CEO Tero Virtala. “The pricing strategy has also remained at a high level, and the game has already recouped a significant portion of the development and marketing expenses.
“We will continue to develop the game to satisfy existing fans and attract new players, and we expect the game to continue selling well.”
Remedy is also working on two paid expansions for Alan Wake 2. The first, Night Springs, is scheduled to be released in late spring 2024, while the second, The Lakehouse, has not yet been given a specific release date.
“Now we have two successful franchises: Control and Alan Wake, which are connected through the Remedy Connected Universe,” added Virtala. “The development and expansion of these franchises will be a key task for our future.”
