Argonaut Games is back in the spotlight, announcing the upcoming remaster of their classic hit Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. The updated version of the game is set to release in 2024 for consoles and PC, though a specific release date has not yet been provided.
Gary Sheinwald, co-CEO of Argonaut Games, commented, “I worked closely with [Argonaut founder] Jez [San] on the creation of Starglider, the company’s first big hit in 1986. Coming full circle by reviving Argonaut Games nearly four decades later completes my journey. We will also be announcing other exciting projects in the coming months.”
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, which was a multi-million selling hit in 1997, tells the story of Croc, a lovable crocodile who embarks on a quest to rescue the Gobbos from the evil Baron Dante. The remaster will retain the charm of the original while offering enhanced high-definition graphics, updated controls, and an authentic gameplay experience designed to evoke nostalgia.
Additionally, the remaster will feature the Crocipedia — an extensive digital museum containing long-lost development assets such as game design documents, concept art, animation tests, team member interviews, and much more.
