According to Take-Two’s data, they announced this figure ahead of the company’s earnings call on Thursday.
The game, initially released in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, was later reissued for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and then for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.
Previous data indicated that by March 2023, 180 million copies had been sold, which is 5 million more than in the previous three months. GTA 5 continues to confidently hold its position on the best-selling list for the decade since its first release.
Although no DLCs were released for the single-player mode, Grand Theft Auto Online continues to receive regular updates since its launch.
200 million copies sold mean the game remains the second most popular game of all time, second only to Minecraft, which has sold about 300 million copies across all platforms, according to its creator.
The entire Grand Theft Auto franchise has sold almost half a billion copies throughout its history, with GTA 5 accounting for almost half of that number.
It was also announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released in fall 2025, according to information from Take-Two.
