Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater remake hides Nickelodeon easter eggs behind deluxe edition paywall

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise is known for its quirky pop culture Easter Eggs, and the recent remakes stay true to that legacy — though many original references were cut, likely due to licensing hurdles. In their place, players have discovered new secrets, including a few notable nods to Nickelodeon.

One such Easter Egg can be found on the Skater Island level, where a hidden area pays tribute to SpongeBob SquarePants. The game also features Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a playable character and includes a Turtle Lair location on the Movie Studio map.

However, these Nickelodeon-themed elements — along with other bonus content — are exclusive to the Deluxe Edition, which costs an additional $20 over the standard version. This edition also includes extra music tracks and two playable characters from Doom.

Without the Deluxe content installed, players visiting the SpongeBob area will instead find a mostly empty pirate ship, with no signs of the iconic cartoon.

Players on the standard edition or Game Pass can still access the content by purchasing the Deluxe upgrade.
