On July 2, Dawntrail will be released, updating the game to version 7.0 and significantly improving the graphics.

The update will enhance visual elements such as textures, vegetation, hair, shadows, and reflections.

This will make the game more resource-intensive, potentially posing challenges for players with less powerful setups.

A new benchmark tool, Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail, will be available on the official game website to check PC compatibility.

The benchmark will run several scenes, including support for resolutions up to 4K, and provide a performance score.

In 2021, a benchmark was released prior to the game’s previous expansion, Endwalker.

Square Enix notes that due to the improvements in Dawntrail, players who ran the Endwalker benchmark may receive a score up to 20% lower.

Last month, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida joked about moving the Dawntrail release date to July 2 to give players time to finish the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, which is coming out on June 21.
