Games come alive, and the fun never ends!

Sniper Elite developer Rebellion Developments has unveiled Alien Deathstorm, a new action-horror FPS

British studio Rebellion Developments—the team behind Zombie Army Trilogy and Atomfall—has officially announced their latest project: Alien Deathstorm. This “true hybrid” experience is set to merge the studio’s signature shooter mechanics with intense environmental storytelling.

The Premise: Survival in a Ravaged Colony

The game transports players to a remote, off-world facility devastated by a mysterious atmospheric phenomenon.

  • The Mission: After all communication is severed, players are dispatched to the isolated colony to investigate the disaster and rescue any remaining survivors.
  • The Threat: Survival depends on fighting off hostile alien creatures while navigating a planet-wide catastrophe known as the “Deathstorm”—an unpredictable environmental hazard that strikes without warning.

Aesthetic: Retro-Futurism Meets Lovecraft

Design director Ben Fisher told Xbox Wire that the game leans heavily into a 1980s “analogue” sci-fi aesthetic.

  • Visual Inspiration: Drawing from classics like Alien, the world favors mechanical technology and industrial, “lived-in” environments over sleek, modern interfaces.
  • Atmosphere: The team describes the vibe as a blend of VHS-era science fiction and Lovecraftian horror, creating a grounded yet terrifying industrial landscape.

Gameplay & Launch Details

  • Genre: Described as a core action-horror experience, the game balances constant danger with a focus on discovery.
  • Platforms: Alien Deathstorm is scheduled to launch in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
  • Subscription: In a major win for subscribers, the title will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

“We’ve combined influences ranging from Lovecraftian horror to VHS-era sci-fi to create something truly unique,” says Fisher.
