Porting studio Virtuos says it’s interested in bringing GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 to Nintendo Switch

Developer Virtuos, headquartered in Singapore with studios across the globe, has earned a strong reputation in recent years thanks to its high-quality remasters and game ports.

In an interview with Pocket Tactics, Virtuos producer Andy Fong revealed that the studio would be interested in bringing Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 to Nintendo Switch platforms.

According to Fong, the team are huge fans of both Rockstar titles and believe they could find new success on Nintendo’s handheld systems, reaching even more players.

Grand Theft Auto 5 has already surpassed 225 million copies sold worldwide, while Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold more than 82 million copies. A Switch or Switch 2 release could further boost those numbers by attracting players interested in portable versions of the games.

Virtuos previously collaborated with Rockstar back in 2017, when the studio handled ports of L.A. Noire for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The company has also worked on Switch versions of titles such as XCOM 2 and The Outer Worlds.

More recently, Virtuos became widely known for its involvement in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The studio also co-developed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered alongside Bethesda Game Studios, helping bring the classic RPG to modern platforms. A Nintendo Switch 2 version of the remaster is reportedly planned for release later this year, although an exact launch date has not yet been announced.
