Players have named Red Dead Redemption 2 the greatest game of all time

Debates about which game deserves the title of the greatest in gaming history never seem to end. Opinions vary widely, with countless rankings and evaluation methods, but GameRant decided to go straight to the players by launching a poll that has already attracted over 270,000 participants.

The results turned out to be fairly predictable. Red Dead Redemption 2 claimed the top spot. Rockstar Games titles consistently receive high praise, but this 2018 release stood out thanks to its deep storytelling, attention to detail, and immersive mechanics.

In second place is Elden Ring by FromSoftware, a dark and challenging title that helped bring the souls-like genre into the mainstream.

Third place went to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from CD Projekt Red, a game that had a major impact on the evolution of open-world RPGs. Another project by the studio, Cyberpunk 2077, landed in eighth place.

The fourth spot was taken by the iconic The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The list also includes two entries from The Legend of Zelda series: Ocarina of Time in sixth place and Breath of the Wild in ninth.

Former PlayStation exclusives such as God of War and Ghost of Tsushima also made it into the ranking.

The GameRant poll is still ongoing, meaning lower positions may shift over time. However, the leader is already clear—according to players, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains the best game ever made, and it’s hard to argue with that.
