Modern Warfare 4 could be released in fall 2026

Insider CharlieIntel reports that the next installment in the series, currently in development by Infinity Ward, could launch in October 2026, though an exact release date has yet to be confirmed. Rumors suggest the campaign will take place across North and South Korea, with players controlling three different factions attempting to prevent a global conflict.

The game is expected to be revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 on June 7. At the same time, increasing reports indicate that the title may not be available on Game Pass at launch.

According to sources, the project is being developed under the codename “Modern Warfare 사”, using the Korean character for the number four. There are also hints at the possible return of the DMZ mode.

Insiders note that the release is likely planned for one of the Fridays in October, maintaining the franchise’s traditional launch window. Additionally, Infinity Ward is reportedly working on an updated game engine to deliver a leap forward for the next generation. The game is also said to be tested on dev kits of the next Xbox console.

As for Game Pass, the situation remains uncertain. While previous entries launched on the service day one, the company may reconsider this strategy due to potential financial drawbacks.
