Nvidia surpasses Apple as the world's most valuable company

Nvidia briefly overtook Apple to become the world’s most valuable company as its market value surged to $3.53 trillion. However, the tech giants have traded the top position this week, with Nvidia’s valuation falling back to $3.47 trillion and Apple closing at $3.52 trillion.

The surge in Nvidia’s value is driven by its position as a leader in AI technology, especially as more companies integrate artificial intelligence into daily operations. Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell, noted to Reuters that Nvidia is “in a sweet spot” and is likely to benefit as businesses increase AI investments, assuming no major economic downturn in the United States.

In addition to its AI-related growth, Nvidia is expected to soon announce its 50 series graphics cards, with models like the RTX 5050, 5060, 5070, 5080, and 5090 already appearing in retail listings. Nvidia is also set to supply key components for Nintendo’s next-generation console, anticipated to be announced by the end of the fiscal year on March 31, 2025. Developers have been informed not to expect the console’s release until after April 2025.
