The Los Angeles-based studio, which has significantly downsized this year due to financial difficulties, is now fully owned by Daybreak, known for games like EverQuest, PlanetSide, and H1Z1.
The free-to-play MMO game Palia was released on Nintendo Switch in December 2023 and appeared on Steam in March 2024. The game supports cross-play and cross-progression. According to Daybreak, as of June 2024, more than four million players had tried Palia, with over 100,000 active players daily.
Daybreak and Singularity 6 announced that the player base is expected to grow as the game progresses towards completion and the release of version 1.0 on all major platforms.
Daybreak CEO Ji Ham said, “S6 is an excellent addition to our development studios, known for their success in creating large-scale online games and content. Their debut title, Palia, is a fantastic addition to our online portfolio. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with the S6 team to make Palia the best online experience and to continue expanding the player community.”
Singularity 6 CEO Anthony Leung added, “From day one, we have always aimed to create alternate worlds that deepen players’ lives. We believe we can best achieve this by partnering with Daybreak, who have a proven track record of building lasting gaming communities. We look forward to their support and investment in Singularity 6 and Palia.”
