Pieces Interactive shared an image on its website with the statement: “Pieces Interactive 2007-2024. Thanks for playing with us.” The studio, based in Skövde, Sweden, also provided a brief overview of its history.
“Pieces Interactive has launched more than ten titles across PC, console, and mobile platforms since 2007. These include our original concepts like Puzzlegeddon, Fret Nice, Leviathan Warships, Robo Surf, and Kill to Collect, as well as contracted titles such as Magicka 2 and various DLCs for Magicka,” the message read.
“Our clientele has encompassed Paradox Interactive, Koei Tecmo, Arrowhead Game Studios, Koch Media, and RaceRoom Entertainment.”
“In 2017, Pieces Interactive was acquired by Embracer Group after collaborating on expansions for Titan Quest: Ragnarök and Titan Quest: Atlantis.”
“Our most recent release was the reimagining of Alone in the Dark.”
On LinkedIn, Pieces Interactive character artist Gustav Pethrus expressed disappointment, stating, “Unfortunately, Pieces Interactive is closing down, so I’m seeking new opportunities.”
The exact number of employees at Pieces Interactive at the time of closure is uncertain, but the studio had a team of 13 when Embracer acquired it in August 2017.
Embracer, which has recently closed several studios, reported last month that Alone in the Dark did not meet sales expectations following its March release.
