AppMagic data published by Pocket Gamer reveals that most of Pokémon Sleep’s revenue since its launch on July 17, 2023, has been generated by Japanese users, who spent $73 million.
US users have added another $15 million to the total, while Taiwan users contributed $4 million.
Pokémon Sleep has been downloaded 9.8 million times, with 44% of downloads coming from Japan, 17% from the US, and 7% from Taiwan.
The app allows players to catch Pokémon based on their sleep patterns, tracking up to two sleep sessions each day. Players receive a sleep score based on the amount of sleep they get, which is combined with a score from a Snorlax minigame. This minigame can be upgraded for a fee, and a premium pass is available for purchase, offering various benefits.
Takato Utsunomiya, COO of The Pokémon Company, explained that “The idea behind Pokémon Sleep is to create a game that makes you look forward to waking up in the morning.”
