Rather than porting the mainline eFootball to Switch 2, Konami will release eFootball Kick-Off!—a spin-off title scheduled for this summer. Unlike the online-focused eFootball, the new entry emphasizes offline modes.
World Tour stands out as a flagship feature, enabling players to establish their own club and compete globally. Progression unlocks player signings, including legendary figures like David Beckham.
The game will also feature International Cup mode, which Konami describes as letting players “experience the atmosphere of football’s biggest celebration, where national teams battle for global supremacy.” Essentially, this represents an unlicensed interpretation of FIFA’s summer World Cup tournament.
According to Konami’s social media announcement, International Cup will arrive as downloadable content, though whether it’s paid DLC or a free update remains unconfirmed.
Additionally, eFootball Kick-Off! includes 6v6 multiplayer and a rating system evaluating player performance.
Konami states users can play solo or with friends, both offline and online, though the game appears disconnected from the free-to-play eFootball available on other platforms.
The project essentially functions as a standalone release, evoking the classic annual Pro Evolution Soccer installments that eFootball ultimately replaced.
Meanwhile, the free-to-play eFootball already runs on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and less powerful hardware like PS4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android, making a Switch 2 port technically feasible.
Whether eFootball Kick-Off! represents Konami’s sole Switch 2 football offering, or if the main free-to-play eFootball will eventually arrive on Nintendo’s new console, remains unclear.
