GSC Game World has released Update 1.4 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, bringing major gameplay improvements, including revamped AI, enhanced combat mechanics, and overall performance optimization.
One of the standout features of the update is the return of the dynamic A-Life AI system, which allows NPCs to act independently of the player. Stalkers can now patrol areas, heal, loot, and fight each other even when the player isn’t around — making the game world feel much more alive and unpredictable.
The combat system has also received a serious upgrade. Human enemies now use cover more effectively, flank players, and coordinate their attacks. They can even kick crouching players, while mutants engage in close-quarters combat and react more intelligently to threats.
Mutant behavior has been further refined — creatures can now feast on corpses and enter an alert state when danger is nearby, adding more tension and immersion to encounters in the Zone.
The patch also includes over 700 fixes, addressing crashes, performance issues, and various technical bugs across both PC and Xbox platforms.
