Today, Rockstar officially announced that the highly anticipated GTA 6, initially scheduled for fall 2025, will now release on May 26, 2026. This was confirmed in a statement on the company’s website.
Publisher Take-Two Interactive also confirmed the delay and expressed full support for the studio. CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the additional time will benefit the project:
“We fully support Rockstar Games’ decision to take more time to realize their creative vision. GTA 6 promises to be a truly groundbreaking entertainment project that will exceed audience expectations.”
Despite the delay, Take-Two expects record financial results in the fiscal year 2026, which will end on March 31, 2026. The company also hopes to replicate its success in 2027.
In light of the news about the delay, the media has once again highlighted the success of GTA 5: since its release in 2013, the game has sold over 210 million copies and remains the fastest-selling entertainment product in history.
Earlier, analyst Michael Pachter suggested that GTA 6 could launch with a price tag of $100 or more if Take-Two offers significant bonuses, such as in-game currency for GTA Online.
