Metacritic Reveals best-rated games of 2025 so far — RPG Clair Obscur takes the lead

Review aggregator Metacritic has published its list of the top-scoring games released in the first half of 2025. The ranking includes titles with at least seven professional reviews, prioritizing the highest-rated versions across platforms.

Competition this year has been especially fierce, with every entry in the top 20 earning praise from critics.

Leading the pack is the debut RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 by Sandfall Interactive, which scored 93. Critics praised its stunning visuals, technical excellence, and deep combat mechanics.

In second place is Blue Prince (PC) with 92, followed by co-op adventure Split Fiction (PS5) at 91.

Other notable entries include Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, ranked fourth, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II in eighth, and Polish sci-fi game The Alters, which came in at 18th place.
