At PAX East 2025, developer Hangar 13 showcased around 9 minutes of new gameplay footage from Mafia: The Old Country. The video features a variety of mechanics, including gunfights, knife combat, stealth takedowns, and chase sequences — both in vintage cars and even on horseback.
The protagonist, Enzo Favara, carries out missions on behalf of the Torrisi crime family. Scenes shown include silent assassinations, intense indoor and outdoor firefights, and high-speed chases in both classic cars and race vehicles — with some horseback riding thrown in for good measure. A notable focus is placed on limited resources — scarce ammunition and an emphasis on stealth and melee combat.
Instead of an open world, the developers opted for a linear, cinematic narrative split into chapters — a structure similar to the remake of the original Mafia.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game features a richly detailed setting of early 20th-century Sicily. The environments shown include sunny village streets, rural landscapes, vineyards, and ancient ruins, all carefully crafted to convey authentic atmosphere and historical detail.
Release date: August 8, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
