Gothic 1 remake gets new trailer, console demo, and release delayed to 2026

Developers Alkimia Interactive and publisher THQ Nordic have unveiled a new trailer for the remake of the cult RPG Gothic 1. The video, showcased during the Digital Showcase 2025, features updated graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5, an improved combat system, and new locations including the iconic Ksardas Tower.

Alongside the trailer, the developers released a demo version of the remake for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles — previously, the demo was only available on PC. This allows console players to get a sneak peek of the game ahead of launch.

The biggest announcement is the delay of the remake’s release to early 2026. Originally planned for 2025, the developers are taking extra time to polish the game.

Additionally, the classic Gothic trilogy (parts 1–3) is set to release on consoles in 2026, giving fans the chance to experience the series on modern platforms for the first time.

The remake promises not only revamped graphics but also a refined story, improved quest system, and more modern gameplay — all while preserving the original’s unique atmosphere.
