G2 Esports CEO Alban Dechelotte indirectly confirmed the impending departure of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač from the CS 2 team in an interview with MGG France. Dechelotte noted that the club has the option to retain the player, as his contract is still valid for several more years, but he hinted at upcoming changes.
“If we wanted to keep NiKo, we could, since he still has years left on his contract. But the fact that we signed malbsMd in July, who plays the same roles as Kovač, could be seen as an indication of what’s coming next. Perhaps we are already working on finding someone who could replace malbsMd in his current roles, allowing him to take over NiKo’s positions at the end of December,” Dechelotte said.
Earlier, insiders reported that NiKo’s transfer to Falcons has already been agreed upon and is expected to take place in early 2025.
