Bungie CEO Pete Parsons has announced his departure from the studio after almost ten years in the role and over two decades with the company.
“After more than two decades of helping build this incredible studio, establishing the Bungie Foundation, and growing inspiring communities around our work, I have decided to pass the torch,” Parsons said in a farewell statement, calling the journey “the honor of a lifetime.”
Parsons joined Bungie in 2002 as an executive producer on Halo 2 and Halo 3, before becoming CEO in 2016. Under his leadership, the studio launched new Destiny content, built a self-publishing infrastructure, and joined Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2022.
Justin Truman, Bungie’s Chief Development Officer, will succeed Parsons as CEO. In his message, Truman reaffirmed the studio’s commitment to Destiny and Marathon, promising more updates later this year.
Marathon—originally slated for release on September 23—was delayed earlier this summer for additional development time, with Bungie citing the need to better align the game with community expectations.
