New details have surfaced online about the long-awaited return of Edward Kenway. According to recent leaks, the updated version of the iconic pirate adventure will carry the official subtitle “Resynced”, with a release planned for July 2026.
The project, previously known under the codename “Obsidian,” is being developed by Ubisoft Singapore. This is the same team that handled the naval mechanics in the original game and recently released its own pirate action title, Skull and Bones.
“Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced” is said to be more than just a visual upgrade—it’s being positioned as a full remake built on a modern engine. The focus is on overhauling water physics, weather systems, and delivering seamless boarding mechanics that feel more dynamic and cinematic.
Developers are reportedly using experience gained from Skull and Bones to make naval combat and control of the ship Jackdaw as realistic as possible. At the same time, the core gameplay systems and storyline of the original are expected to remain largely intact.
A summer 2026 release appears to be a strategic move by Ubisoft, helping bridge the gap between major franchise entries like Shadows and future projects tied to the Infinity platform, while offering fans a refreshed version of a beloved classic.
Beyond visual improvements, insiders hint at expanded side quests and improved enemy AI. The game is also expected to feature full integration with modern Ubisoft services and support for all features of current-gen consoles.
Although there has been no official announcement yet, the growing number of leaks continues to build anticipation. Fans are eager to once again raise the Jolly Roger and set sail in search of treasure—this time in enhanced 4K quality.
