The Valorant development team has unveiled a detailed roadmap outlining the shooter’s future updates. The announced changes will affect the competitive system, gameplay mechanics, and agent balance.
The most significant adjustments will arrive with Patch 13.00, which is set to reshape the game ahead of the international VCT Masters London tournament.
Ranked System Changes
Developers are continuing to improve matchmaking and the Ranked Rating (RR) system. Despite the successful MMR update released in January, players continued to report uneven matchmaking and unfair RR losses after defeats.
Following the upcoming update, the post-match RR calculation will place greater emphasis on individual player performance in both wins and losses.
Riot Games also confirmed stronger anti-cheat and anti-wintrading measures for Immortal and Radiant ranks.
New Game Modes
Valorant Product Manager Arman Asdourian announced three upcoming game modes:
- Experimental Mix — a hybrid mode combining mechanics from Replication and All Random One Site.
- 3v3 Spike Mode — featuring shorter rounds and smaller teams for faster-paced gameplay.
- KAY/O Simulation — a mysterious mode described as “a combat simulation gone wrong,” with more details expected in September.
Agent and Weapon Balance Updates
The balance changes are aimed at bringing the game back toward a more tactical team-oriented meta after solo duelists dominated the end of last year.
- Patch 12.09 (already live): Reduced Neon mobility and decreased shotgun accuracy while moving.
- Patch 13.00: Initiator ability cooldowns will be reduced from 60 to 50 seconds, allowing for more frequent utility usage.
- Sentinels: Will receive strategic buffs to better counter aggressive duelist playstyles.
- Weapons: Riot also announced a buff for the Bandit to improve its competitiveness.

Impact on Masters London
One of the major technical additions will allow players to download and review their friends’ match replays directly in-game, making gameplay analysis much more accessible.
These updates are expected to create major challenges for professional teams preparing for Masters London. Teams that qualified through aggressive duelist-focused strategies will now have to adapt to a shifting meta that places greater emphasis on Sentinels and Initiators.
