A Resident Evil strategy game will be announced next week — one of the creators involved is the co-creator of Kingdom Hearts

Resident Evil: Survival Unit is being developed by Joycity (known for 3on3 FreeStyle Rebound) and Aniplex (Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2) in close collaboration with Capcom.

The game will receive a full reveal during an online showcase on July 10, 2025, at 10 PM UTC / 11 PM UK / 6 PM ET.

Notably, Shinji Hashimoto has joined the project — a veteran of the industry best known as the co-creator of the Kingdom Hearts series and former brand manager of Final Fantasy for a decade. After retiring from Square Enix in 2022, he went on to work at Sony Music Entertainment Japan.

Meanwhile, Capcom has already announced the next mainline entry in the franchise — Resident Evil Requiem, unveiled at Summer Game Fest. According to Capcom, the game will mark a “bold shift for the franchise” and will follow Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa from Resident Evil Outbreak. She is an FBI analyst investigating a series of mysterious deaths in Raccoon City, 30 years after it was destroyed during the events of Resident Evil 3.
