S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 gets patch 1.4.2: balance tweaks and bug fixes

GSC Game World has released update 1.4.2 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The patch brings several important balance changes and resolves a number of technical issues that impacted gameplay.

Key changes include:

  • Balance: Reduced armor penetration for 9×18 caliber ammunition.
  • Gamepad support: Fixed an issue where camera sensitivity was too low at low frame rates when using controllers.
  • AI behavior: Mutants no longer twitch or shake erratically when reacting to threats.
  • Inventory: Fixed item duplication in the quick access panel and items incorrectly showing as available when not in the player’s inventory.
  • Story progression: Addressed a bug where a radio call from Strelok wouldn’t trigger and the next quest wouldn’t start if the player didn’t eliminate all Watchmen during the “Dangerous Connections” mission.
  • Animations: The main character no longer gets stuck in a stunned animation after dying during the boss fight in the “Final Preparations” mission.
  • Squad behavior: Sanya Ocheret no longer starts attacking his fellow stalkers during the “Frontline” mission.
  • Mission fix: Resolved an issue where the doors to the Duga underground tunnel could remain locked in saved games during the “Final Push” mission.

The developers note that the update also includes additional technical improvements aimed at enhancing overall game stability.
