ESL announces Format for ESL Challenger League 2025

Tournament organizer ESL has revealed details about the ESL Challenger League (ECL) format for CS2 in 2025. The total prize pool for the league will amount to $580,000, and regional champions will secure slots in the ESL Pro League (EPL).

To give runner-up teams a chance to qualify for EPL, ESL will host additional regional qualifiers based on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) in four regions.

Key Changes:

  • Season 49 (January 21 – May 11) will maintain its current format.
  • Starting with Season 50 (August 5 – November 16), invitations will be based on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) and team performance in the ESEA Advanced League.
  • Teams will no longer retain their league spots automatically. If they fail to qualify via VRS, they will drop to ESEA Advanced.

The first VRS ranking to determine invitations for Season 50 will be published in July 2025.

More details about the changes are available on the official ESL website.
