GSC Game World has officially launched S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, marking the return of the beloved open-world shooter franchise. The game is now available on PC and Xbox Series X|S and included in PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.
A Long Road to Release
The development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been a turbulent journey. Initially announced in 2010 with a planned release for 2012, the project was shelved after the studio disbanded. GSC Game World revived the project in 2018, facing multiple delays due to various challenges.
Story and Setting
Players step into the shoes of Skif, the protagonist tasked with uncovering the mysteries behind a second Chernobyl disaster, which occurred in 2006 according to the game’s storyline. Familiar faces like Strelok and Doctor from the original trilogy make appearances, adding nostalgia for long-time fans.
Regional Restrictions and Language Options
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is not available for purchase in Russia and Belarus. Additionally, the game excludes Russian voiceovers, offering subtitles instead.
