Nintendo has announced the discontinuation of regular updates for Splatoon 3

Following this week’s special Grand Festival event, Nintendo has announced that regular updates for Splatoon 3 will come to an end. Since its launch on September 9, 2022, Splatoon 3 has seen frequent updates, including new weapons, Splatfests, and additional features.

Support for the previous title, Splatoon 2, also lasted about two years, with its final major update released in July 2019.

According to a message on the official Splatoon X account, “After two incredible years with Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close. But don’t worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with returning themes.”

Weapon balance updates will still be released as needed, and events like Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue for the time being.

The Side Order DLC for Splatoon 3, which includes a new single-player campaign and is the final piece of content in the game’s $24.99 / £22.49 Expansion Pass, was released in February of this year.

The Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championships 2024 were held in April. These events, initially scheduled for January at Nintendo Live 2024, were rescheduled after the event was canceled due to safety concerns.
