The second open beta version of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been cancelled

The open beta for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been cancelled, as announced by developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment in a Steam update.

They explained that the decision to cancel the beta was driven by the need to fully focus on the final stages of preparing for the game’s release, scheduled for September 9.

“Space Marine 2 is nearly ready,” the statement read. “Right now, our efforts are concentrated on optimization, refinement, and addressing any remaining issues before launch.

“Therefore, we have decided not to conduct a public online beta test, to avoid diverting our developers from preparing for the full release. Our primary goal is to ensure the best possible experience for players at launch.

“We understand that this may be disappointing for some of you. As a gesture of gratitude to those who registered before midnight Paris time on June 28, 2024, via online signup, a limited Bolt Pistol skin will be provided.

“We appreciate your understanding and support as we work towards delivering the game you deserve.”

It’s worth noting that the sequel to the 2011 hack-and-slash game Space Marine was announced at The Game Awards in 2021 and was initially slated for release in 2023 before being postponed.
