Titan Quest II launches in early access with positive reception and high expectations

On August 1, THQ Nordic and Grimlore Games released Titan Quest II in Early Access on Epic Games Store and Steam. The sequel to the iconic 2006 isometric action RPG had been long awaited — and early feedback suggests the wait was worth it.

Over its debut weekend, the game gathered around 5,000 user reviews, with 83% rated as positive, and a peak concurrent player count of over 27,000.

However, not all aspects were universally praised. The character progression system received mixed feedback for its complexity. Still, fans highlighted the game’s visual quality, distinct art style, mythical enemies, atmospheric soundtrack, and engaging gameplay.

Developers had previously warned that the Early Access version would feature limited content and incomplete systems. As a result, Titan Quest II currently lacks the depth of titles like Path of Exile or Diablo IV, but the studio promises regular major updates.

Players describe the game as “not perfect yet, but full of potential.”

The story once again takes players to Ancient Greece, this time to face Nemesis, the goddess of retribution, who seeks to unravel the Threads of Fate and plunge the world into chaos. Like the original, players can combine two classes and choose between light, medium, or heavy weapons, each affecting combat style.
