CD Projekt RED’s CEO, Michał Nowakowski, has set high expectations for the studio’s upcoming title, The Witcher 4. In an interview with Eurogamer, he stated that the new installment will surpass both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 in scale and quality.
“The next game we create won’t be smaller or worse. It will be better and bigger than The Witcher 3 and better than Cyberpunk,” said Nowakowski. “Even if challenges arise or setbacks occur, I still believe we will achieve more than what we’ve accomplished in recent years. Technology should not hold us back.”
On Marketing for The Witcher 4
Reflecting on past campaigns, Nowakowski hinted at a more streamlined approach for The Witcher 4’s promotional efforts.
“When we launched the marketing campaign for Cyberpunk 2077 with Keanu [at E3 in June 2019], the original plan was to release the game about a year later. That didn’t happen. We didn’t intend for a two-year campaign, and I still think one year is enough for a promotional cycle.”
While the full-scale marketing blitz will begin closer to the game’s release, fans can expect teasers and exciting reveals earlier in the lead-up to launch.
CD Projekt RED has yet to announce an official release date for The Witcher 4, but the studio’s ambition signals a promising future for the franchise.
