December 15, 2024 — The festive Frostivus event has begun in Dota 2, bringing a wealth of seasonal activities and rewards. The event will run until January 15.
Throughout this year, Dota has seen significant updates, including the introduction of new heroes, a rework of existing characters, and a major narrative arc. Now, as the year draws to a close, the Frostivus event arrives with a multitude of festive gifts and in-game activities.
Frostivus Hats and Abilities
During the Frostivus event, players can collect and wear stylish Frostivus hats. These hats can be obtained through the new Spirit of Frostivus ability, which allows players to gift or steal hats from others. Hats can also be looted from defeated heroes and other in-game entities, creating a towering stack of hats as trophies.
Frostivus Forge
Players can participate in the Frostivus Forge, crafting new rewards by completing various in-game challenges. These challenges range from performing specific actions like snowballing enemies before killing them to stealing hats. Successfully completing these tasks will grant players unique supplies to craft seasonal rewards, including chat wheels, new tormentors, and special couriers.
Winter 2024 Heroes’ Hoard
The event also introduces the Winter 2024 Heroes’ Hoard, a treasure chest featuring 17 item sets for various heroes, new Immortal items, taunts, and a pet wolf. This treasure is available in the Crownfall store, where players can use Crownfall Coins to purchase it.
End-of-Year Ban Wave
To ensure a better gaming experience, King Kringle has enforced a significant ban wave, targeting 65,594 smurf accounts and high-MMR griefers. This action aims to maintain a cleaner, fairer gaming environment.
End-of-Year Sale
Additionally, Dota is hosting a winter sale on Crownfall content, offering discounts on various items and story nodes. The sale runs through January 3, giving players the chance to unlock new content and enhance their heroes with special sets and Arcanas.
As the Frostivus event unfolds, players are encouraged to dive into the festivities and enjoy the seasonal offerings before they conclude on January 15.
