The Division 2 Introduces a New Season with Companions and a Final Mission

The new season released for The Division II is Rebellion, which is now available for all players. The biggest feature coming with Rebellion is a new Companion System that offers players deeper tactical gameplay as agents now have the ability to persuade specific enemies to defect. If the enemy survives as a defected agent, that person can be recruited as a companion in any mission, including the most difficult.

Companions can fill three roles:

  • Assault: an aggressive front-line vagabond;
  • Medic: can heal and cure; and
  • Engineer: can provide defensive support through the use of turrets, drones and gadgets.

All companions have their own set of active abilities, which are able to be controlled by the agent. Companion abilities may include the ability to command, change position, target a specific player, or provide assistance to their squad. Each companion will have randomized traits to improve mobility and/or damage resistance, which can help facilitate variable builds.

The main focus of Rebellion is Team Sync, a new core mechanic that provides enhanced coordination and synergy between agents and companions by combining attacks, marking targets, and sharing healing to fill a synergy meter that can be used to charge a unique ability once full.

In addition, Rebellion features the final Master Apex mission, the introduction of an updated challenge system, several new gear types, and seasonal modifiers. Ubisoft continues to evolve The Division II focusing primarily on teamwork and strategic gameplay.
