Sony has introduced a new section on the PlayStation Direct website called Certified Refurbished, where refurbished PlayStation 5 consoles and accessories will soon be available at discounted prices. These refurbished consoles are pre-owned hardware returned for various reasons, such as minor defects or simply a change of mind by the customer, which makes them ineligible to be sold as new.
A refurbished PS5 with a disc drive will be priced at £389.99 / $399.99, offering a £90 / $100 discount compared to a new console, which costs £479.99 / $499.99.
Sony assures that each refurbished console is “thoroughly cleaned, tested, and ready for a new home,” with 100% PlayStation quality guaranteed. The consoles will come with all necessary accessories, cables, and manuals, packaged in Certified Refurbished branding. Each console will also be covered by a 12-month warranty, though minor cosmetic imperfections may be present.
This news follows Sony’s recent announcement of the PlayStation 5 Pro, set to launch on November 7 at £699 / $699.
