Sega has expanded its Nintendo Switch 2 launch lineup with the addition of Sonic X Shadow Generations, a title that includes an all-new Shadow campaign and a full remaster of the classic Sonic Generations. The game is set to launch on June 5, alongside the debut of the new console.
“Play as Shadow in a brand-new story campaign featuring unique abilities that prove why he’s known as the Ultimate Life Form,” Sega says.
“Also included is a complete remaster of Sonic Generations — a time-traveling adventure with upgraded visuals, iconic 2D and 3D stages, and new bonus content.”
With this addition, Sega’s Switch 2 launch roster will feature three titles:
- Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut
- Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S
- Sonic X Shadow Generations
Following the June 5 releases, the company plans to roll out two more games:
- Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army on June 19,
- Two Point Museum later in the year.
As a reminder, Sega announced in February that Sonic X Shadow Generations had already sold over 2 million copies, though it has yet to surpass the franchise’s best-selling 3D title, Sonic Frontiers (3.5 million copies sold).
Despite some recurring series flaws, critics praise the remastered Sonic Generations for its enhanced visuals, fast-paced gameplay, and added challenges, offering fans dozens of hours of replayability.
