According to some new rumors, it appears that the upcoming Star Wars announcement could be related to The Old Republic. However, there are some fans who do not know if the announcement is in relation to BioWare’s MMORPG. Star Wars: The Old Republic, or if the announcement has anything to do with the much-delayed remake of KOTOR which has been in development hell for years.
A few recent outlets have reported that there could be a new Star Wars title revealed during The Game Awards. Although “insiders” have stated that this announcement will not be based around either Zero Company or Eclipse. The speculated candidates are either Jedi 3, Amy Hennig’s title, or KOTOR. The speculation was further backed up by an insider named Kurakasis stating that the title of the upcoming title will contain “The Old Republic”.
Most fans believe that this means KOTOR; however, other fans believe that since the MMORPG. Star Wars: The Old Republic still receives periodic updates, it would certainly fit this criteria. Therefore, it is possible that some sort of new content or a console port of the title could be in the works, although there are many fans who do not feel that the announcement is large enough to warrant a reveal at TGA.
One other theory has surfaced regarding the addition of a Total War: Star Wars title set within The Old Republic timeframe. However, no evidence has surfaced during the recent anniversary stream of Total War.
Finally, as is the case with all rumors, caution should be exercised when speculating that any sort of Star Wars title announcement will take place at TGA.
