RUINER 2 Announced by Polish Studio Reikon Games, Now in Development for PC

Independent Polish developer Reikon Games has announced that RUINER 2 is currently in development for PC. As the name suggests, the game will serve as a sequel to the 2017 top-down twin-stick shooter, which was well received by both players and critics.

The original RUINER became a clear pick for fans of fast-paced, skill-based action games. On WccfTech, the title received a score of 8 out of 10. However, RUINER 2 will significantly expand the formula by introducing co-op gameplay and shifting its genre toward a cyberpunk action RPG.

“We’re huge fans of ARPGs, and RUINER 2 is the game we’ve always wanted to play. We created the Shell System because we love theorycrafting and discovering powerful combinations, but we hated being locked into a single character for a hundred hours. This game is for players who want to experiment, swap builds on the fly, and uncover screen-shattering synergies,” said game director Marek Roefler.

The studio Reikon Games, which recently released the sci-fi first-person shooter METAL EDEN, explained that the sequel will once again take players to Rengkok, a cyberpunk dictatorship where corporations literally own the right to your death.

In RUINER 2, players will take on the role of hackers capable of controlling up to three bodies known as Shells, switching between them instantly during combat. Instead of being limited to a single class, players will unlock unique characters called Shells by defeating bosses. Each Shell features its own combat style, four skills with two upgrade branches each, and an individual resource system (Power, CPU, and Memory) that determines equipment usage without free slots—meaning every gear choice involves a trade-off.

The progression system also includes a passive Hacker-level tree called Neural Network, which shapes the overall development of all Shells.

In single-player, players control a squad of up to three Shells at the same time, effectively becoming a one-person army. This system enables powerful ability synergies, allowing players to combine skills across different Shells to unleash devastating combos.

The same concept applies to co-op mode, where up to three players can bring their own Shells into battle, resulting in as many as six characters on the team. More players mean more synergy—and higher stakes.

Reikon also confirmed an “endless endgame” mode, where players will fight through increasingly difficult levels filled with stronger enemies, better loot, and no fixed limits.

The Steam page already lists the minimum system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Intel Core i5-8400
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) / AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 10 GB available space

It’s also worth noting that the original RUINER was eventually released on PlayStation, Xbox, and even Nintendo Switch. The same could likely happen with RUINER 2 in the future.
