Riot Games has announced layoffs affecting the League of Legends development team, as confirmed by company co-founder Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill. According to him, this decision is not related to cost-cutting but is part of a review of team and individual employee efficiency.
The company concluded that larger development teams are not always the most effective in solving specific problems compared to smaller teams. Riot Games continues to optimize processes and adapt to the industry’s evolving demands.
Merrill emphasized that all affected employees will receive six months’ salary, an annual bonus, health insurance, and assistance in finding new employment.
It is worth noting that this is not the first round of layoffs at Riot Games this year. Earlier, the company laid off 530 employees, and according to Eurogamer, this wave will affect 32 workers.
