During Sunday’s game, an advertisement aired featuring 16-time Grammy winner Lady Gaga, comedian Trevor Noah, Blackpink’s Jisoo, Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc, Barcelona and Spain striker Lamine Yamal, actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and rapper Young Miko.
Each celebrity shares their favorite Pokémon. Lady Gaga describes a character with a “twelve-octave vocal range,” referring to Jigglypuff. She then performs its song from the Pokémon anime series. In the original show, Jigglypuff’s song would put characters to sleep, after which it would draw on their faces.
Kenji Okubo, president of The Pokémon Company International, noted: “The ‘What’s Your Favourite?’ campaign embodies Pokémon’s core mission—bringing people together through their shared love of Pokémon. The franchise has been around for 30 years.”
“As we prepare for a year of fan-focused celebrations, we thank trainers worldwide for being part of our diverse, global, multigenerational community and look forward to delighting them with new offerings,” he added.
Starting today, Pokémon Go players can create their own “what’s your favourite” snapshots.
The Pokémon Company also announced year-round “Day Out” and “Night Out” events that will let trainers interact in immersive ways. Day events will feature family-friendly activities, while Night events have surprises in store for longtime fans who grew up with Pokémon.
