Disney confirmed that the official announcement for the Star Wars strategy game from Bit Reactor will take place on April 19. There is a possibility that the project will also be showcased on Star Wars Day 2025.
Bit Reactor is an independent studio founded in 2021 in Maryland by veterans of Firaxis Games. In 2022, it was revealed that the studio is working on a turn-based strategy set in the Star Wars universe in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment. However, since the initial announcement, very little information has been shared about the project.
New details will be revealed during Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, which will take place from April 18 to 20 in Chiba. The Bit Reactor presentation is scheduled for April 19 at 16:30 local time.
The project has been in development since late 2021, and given the typical cycle for AAA game development, it should be in an advanced stage by 2025. With the game ready for public presentation, it’s reasonable to assume that the release could happen later this year.
Bit Reactor promises to combine strategic depth with accessibility and high-quality execution. The studio features specialists who previously worked on XCOM and Civilization, making this project especially intriguing for fans of those series.
The development is supported by Respawn Entertainment, which also serves as the publisher. After the success of Star Wars Jedi, the company canceled the Mandalorian shooter in 2024 due to budget cuts at EA. However, Bit Reactor assured that their project has not been affected and continues to be actively developed.
