Insider Jez Corden has shared new details about Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox console, contradicting some previously circulated rumors.
Speaking on The Xbox Two podcast, he claimed with 99.9% certainty that the next-generation Xbox will offer full backward compatibility with titles from Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series. Importantly, the games will run not via software emulation, but through hardware-level support.
Corden also dismissed speculation that the new Xbox would resemble a gaming PC more than a traditional console:
“That’s not the case,” he emphasized.
The device is expected to launch sometime in 2027 or 2028. Meanwhile, journalist Tom Henderson suggests it could be Microsoft’s last traditional home console, as the company is increasingly shifting toward a digital ecosystem where the type of device no longer matters for players.
