The latest PlayStation Blog download chart for April 2025 reveals a remarkable shift — the top three best-selling paid PS5 games in both North America and Europe were all developed by Microsoft-owned studios.
In the US and Canada, the top sellers were:
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
- Minecraft
- Forza Horizon 5
In Europe, the order was slightly different:
- Forza Horizon 5
- Oblivion Remastered
- Minecraft
This cross-regional performance offers strong validation for Microsoft’s evolving strategy of bringing Xbox games to rival platforms, including the PlayStation 5. During a recent earnings call, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella noted that the company’s titles led pre-orders and pre-installs on both the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store in Q1 2025.
Microsoft also reported a 5% year-over-year increase in total gaming revenue, with Xbox content and services up 8%, driven largely by Game Pass, Call of Duty, and Minecraft. In contrast, Xbox hardware revenue fell by 6%, underscoring Microsoft’s ongoing pivot toward a multi-platform strategy.
Adding to this trend, sales estimates from last month indicate that the PS5 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle — released later than other platforms — became the fastest-selling version, outperforming both Xbox and Steam launches. Still, it’s worth noting that Xbox and PC players also had access via Game Pass.
