Insiders suggest that the next update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl may finally address the issue of overly aggressive mutant spawns.
According to the fan account S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 News on X (formerly Twitter), Patch 1.9 is expected to fix a bug that caused powerful mutants to appear too frequently in certain areas of the Zone. The issue wasn’t tied to a single creature type but rather to the overall spawn system. As a result, the game would sometimes generate high-level enemies more often than intended, disrupting the overall balance.
Earlier rumors also claimed that the update could introduce features outlined in the 2025 roadmap. Developer GSC Game World may add binoculars and extend the day-night cycle. Before release, the patch will reportedly undergo internal testing. However, there is currently no official launch date.
The most recent major update, Untold Stories, focused on mysterious events near Malachite and the Zone’s most secret stash. It introduced eight new missions, seven locations, several new characters, and unique weapons and items. Players were also given the option to establish a new hub within the Zone.
Fans are still waiting for the highly anticipated DLC expected this year. Previously, the studio teased the Duga radar as a key location for the expansion, but concrete details remain scarce. While some had hoped for a late 2025 release, it now appears that players will need to wait longer.
