During the night of February 29, Valve rolled out a minor update for CS 2, bringing adjustments to the respawn system and resolving various bugs.
Here are the key changes included in the patch:
- Spawn positions are now preset at the beginning of the map and stored in round backup files, eliminating random selection during player reconnection.
- Fixed the issue causing players to encounter a black screen upon disconnecting and reconnecting during timeouts.
- Resolved problems with MVP reward music conflicting with round-end music.
- In Deathmatch mode, kills during warm-up no longer contribute to the medical syringe reward or Zeus x27 kill bonus.
- Addressed the issue causing players to jump higher than usual when transitioning to low frame rates.
- Weapon switching is now correctly processed by the server, preventing occasional ignoring of commands.
- Improved rendering of smoke shadows and overall performance.
- Fixed the Linux crash triggered by pressing Alt-Tab.
- Reduced frame rate delays caused by shader compilation.
- Enhanced user input behavior during packet loss or client frame rate issues.
- Fixed the problem preventing some North American players from joining European servers due to incorrect SDR routing.
- Players excessively suiciding on official servers will now receive temporary bans.
- Refined the idle player state tracking to exclude buy periods and round timeouts.
- Chickens no longer interact with dropped weapons.
- Sniper scope overlays are no longer visible in spectator tool windows.
- Adjusted spawn location priorities in Premier and Competitive modes across various maps.
Additionally, Valve made minor tweaks to the Inferno map, including the removal of the bench at arch, elevation adjustments toward the center exit, terrain smoothing in the “banana” area, and elimination of all gaps. Fans appreciate the improved average FPS post-update.
