Pavel Dyundik, the administrator of the SteamDB portal, discovered that the website of the popular digital game store Steam has been included in the unified registry of Roskomnadzor at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Roskomnadzor registry contains resources that may disseminate information prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation. The reason for adding the site steamcommunity.com to this list is currently unknown. It could be comments, screenshots, or games that violate Russian legislation.
It is important to note that Steam’s inclusion in the registry does not automatically mean the site will be blocked in Russia. As of the news writing, Gabe Newell’s store was not in the list of restricted resources. Neither side has commented on this situation at the moment.
