11 bit studios has officially announced Frostpunk 1886, a full remake of the original game set to launch in 2027. Rebuilt from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5, the new version brings the frozen post-apocalyptic survival experience to a whole new technical level.
In Frostpunk 1886, players will once again take on the role of the Captain in a frozen London of 1886, managing the last city on Earth. In addition to visual enhancements, the game will introduce a new societal development path, expanding on the familiar Faith and Order systems. Players can also expect new laws, buildings, events, and technologies.
One of the major additions is official mod support, allowing the community to create and share custom content.
The remake will be released on PC via Steam, and is designed to appeal to both newcomers and longtime fans by offering a deeper, more technically advanced experience.
