Epic Games has announced that themed updates for the Fortnite racing game Rocket Racing will end, less than a year after its launch. According to the patch notes for the latest update, version v31.40 “brings the game back to the starting line” as the company bids farewell to updates like Inferno Island.
Future updates will focus on new ranked periods, quests, and additional car items to enhance the racing experience. Epic also highlighted that new tracks from creators are being released daily for players looking for fresh content.
Rocket Racing was developed by Psyonix, the studio behind Rocket League, and is described as a high-speed arcade racer where players can drift, fly, and boost with friends through an ever-growing number of tracks.
The game was one of three added to Fortnite last December, alongside Lego Fortnite and Fortnite Festival. At the time, Epic emphasized that these games were here to stay with regular updates.
Epic Games acquired Psyonix in 2019, and in 2021, they released Rocket League Sideswipe for Android and iOS.
